Hey everyone this is my first post on my blog! To me, media studies are the way to learn about how the media has changed and evolved, how media is used today, and all the effects that it has had in our society. The things that I have learned so far have impacted the way I perceive or consume media products. It made me stop and think about all the codes and marketing strategies etc. that I have somehow never paid much attention to or noticed. It helps me digest the world differently. Media studies have so far taught me the importance of understanding how the media is used to engage audiences.
What I hope to get out of the experience of learning media studies is generating a basic understanding of how media affects me and how I can apply to know those skills to my soon adult/career life. I would like to be able to break down certain media pieces to interpret them and respond or react accordingly. Some of the media I consume on the daily basis include social media, print media, and television. I utilize social media to stay caught up on current events such as social justice, government, and entertainment. However, the most media I consume is print media! During my 7 hour school day, I study textbooks, see diagrams/photos on paper, read books, learn a new language in a printed workbook, and endless math problems. This probably isn't even the sum of it, as I continue to learn new media forms I hope to point more out on my journey
Farewell new viewers I hope to continue my journey with you all!!
