Blocking

Blocking is the precise staging of actors in a performance, and it is where actors are placed in a frame. The Purpose of Blocking is to tell the story by staging the characters' actions to mirror the subtext of what is  happening on screen. The example I got was from a spiderman film. The picture can be seen down below.  The genre of the frame is action. The narrative being created in the frame is a young woman who is obviously terrified  by the superhero jumping off of a bridge with her into the air. The superhero is painted as fearless. The emotion being  connected is excitement. The camera work I used to create a story was setting, acting, and camera angle. The setting  denotes that they are obviously in a high place midair. The connotation derived from this could be the feeling of  frisson. The acting highlights the character’s mood, the face she is making shows that she is scared. Finally, the camera  angles the picture is taken fr...

Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds is a picture depicted in to nine imaginary sections. The picture is mentally divided into  thirds vote horizontally and vertically. The p urpose of this method is used to make shots look compelling and well put together. It also helps the audience to view  the image with emphasis on certain places. I completed an analysis of an example of the use of the rule of thirds from the film "A Star Is Born".  (The photo will be shown below) The director chooses to use this technique to put  emphasis on the woman’s emotions towards the man playing piano.  The central idea of the first frame is the subject was  playing piano. In the second frame the woman’s posture and feelings are highlighted. Finally, the third frame  focuses on piano and music sheet. The audience can perceive that the man is focused and possibly disabled  due to his facial expressions. His eyes are nearly shot, and he seems unaware of the woman...

Genre Lighting Mind map Poster

The genre  of our intended film is drama and crime. The themes associated with our genre is friendship and teen angsts. The tones that are associated with our genre include bitterness, jealousy, and envy. Lowkey lighting would best support this because it would reflect a negative connotation on our scene and the tones associated are all negative. It would show a dark side to the characters that are dealing with these feelings. Two films that my group and i will be doing a case study on are "The Irishman " and "The fallout".

Lighting In Film

The purpose of lighting in film is to convey the visual mood, enhance atmosphere, and it creates a sense of meaning for the audience consuming the media product. This is a major part of film making. It ties the story being told together ad really give the audience the feel of what the director is trying to get across. The person responsible for creating lighting in a film is the cinematographer and the gaffer or the chief lighting technician. Some of theses responsibilities include taking charge of the camera and lighting crew and getting them to perfect the directors vision. They also regulate color and lighting. Finally, they frame every single shot in a film.  Roger Deakins is a world renown cinematographers he is most popularly known for his work With directors the Coen Brothers, Sam Mendes, and Denis Villeneuve. He has over fifty five works. Some of the most popular being Fargo, Skyfall, and Country for Old Men. He holds Fifteen academy awards. and many more nominations....
